Keith served 16 years on the Henry County, Ohio Common Pleas Court bench in the General, Domestic Relations, Juvenile and Probate Divisions. During that time he presided over and conducted successful settlement conferences in many types of cases including personal injury, malpractice, corporate and business, insurance, property damage, real estate, appropriation, wrongful death, will contests, division of marital assets, custody and visitation issues and juvenile case plans.
Before serving on the Henry County bench, Keith’s private practice of 19 years included engagements as Napoleon City Law Director and Municipal Prosecutor for 10 years and as the Napoleon Municipal Court Judge for 7 years. During that time, and while serving as Common Pleas Judge, he sat on numerous boards and committees and worked closely with public officials at the township, city, county and state level.
Under his direction on the Common Pleas Court bench, the Henry and Defiance Counties Joint Court Mediation Program was established in 1998 and has grown to become a successful mediation alternative available through the courts in 6 Northwest Ohio counties.
Since retiring from the bench in 2011, Keith has stayed active by completing Basic Mediation Training, plus an additional 40 hours of advanced mediation training to become certified as a Civil Mediator.
Through his Of Counsel association with Rinehart, Rishel & Cuckler, Ltd., Keith’s experience and mediation skills are now available to our private clients, corporations and public agencies in Central and Northwest Ohio.
